- Pre-Registration Deadline: The pre-registration deadline for special elections held on March 3rd is Friday, February 21. If you register after this date, you may participate in a March 3rd special election for which you’re eligible by using election day registration procedures.
Register to vote or update your voter registration online using your Iowa driver’s license or ID number. You will receive your voter registration card from your county auditor within two weeks.

No Iowa Driver's License or ID Number?
Do you fly commercially or need to enter a federal building?If so, beginning October 2020 your driver's license/ID card must contain a gold star in the upper right corner (be Real ID compliant). If your card does not contain this gold star and you will be flying commercially or entering a federal building, come visit us in person to obtain a REAL ID marked card. Has my new license/ID card been mailed?
Your new driver’s license or ID card will arrive in a plain white envelope within 21 days of being processed.
- Make sure to enter your first name in the first box and last name in the second box
- Enter your name exactly as it appears on your license or identification card (e.g. Matthew instead of Matt)
- Be sure to use the LAST 5 digits of your social security number (a common mistake is to use only the last 4)
